| PBH’s Clinical Operations Department consists of three units: Access, Utilization Management and Clinical Support. From enrollment/eligibility, referrals and access for treatment to service authorization, coordination of emergency services and level of care utilization, the department plays an integral part in the management of mental health, intellectual/developmental disabilities and substance use/addiction services for the PBH Region. The department is charged with getting health plan members the right care, in the right amount and at the right time based on the appropriateness of care and service, and the existence of coverage. |

| The LME is responsible for timely response to the needs of consumers and for quick linkages to qualified providers of the network. To ensure the simplicity of the system requested by our consumers and stakeholders, the LME will maintain a 1-800 call system to receive all inquiries. |

| The Access Department is a critical function of PBH. Access maintains a toll-free 800 number, called the “Access Line” and a 704 number called the "Referral line". The Access & Referral lines are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year for telephonic assessments, crisis intervention, and authorization requests for people seeking assistance with mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disability issues. |
