GAST provides free educational programs to staff in long term care facilities. For a list and description of the currently available trainings, click on the Training Catalog link below.
Information about trainings:
- Done onsite at the long term care facility by our professional staff.
- Adult Care Home Continuing Education Hours (approved by the NC Division of Health Service Regulation) are awarded to those who attend our trainings.
- Trainings are usually 1 hour in length.
- Trainings can be customized to meet your facility’s specific needs.
Consultation with staff members in regard to a specific resident is also available. We can attend care plan meetings or facility staffings about problematic residents to offer suggestions.
GAST Goals
- To enhance the understanding of mental illnesses among long term care staff members.
- To assist long term care staff to successfully care for adults with mental illness in the long term care setting.
- To enhance the skill and technique of staff to prevent an escalation of behaviors that could place the adult in a psychiatric hospital.
