Meaningful Day

The philosophy of having a meaningful day equates to an individual participating in activities and functions of community life that is desired and chosen by the general population.  This includes:

  • Purposeful and meaningful work
  • Substantial opportunities for optimal health, self empowerment and personalized relationships
  • Skill development and/or maintenance
  • Social, educational and community inclusion activities that are directly linked to the vision, goals and desired outcomes documented in the individual’s Individual Support Plan.

Successful meaningful day supports are measured by whether or not the individual achieves his/her desired outcomes as identified in the individual’s Individual Support Plan.

Services through the Innovations waiver that can be used to fund supports to engage in Meaningful Days are:

  • Day Supports
  • Community Networking
  • Supported Employment

The term “day” does not exclusively denote activities that happen between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.
