What does Quality of Life mean to consumers?

Essential to well-being are
the validation of personhood,
a recognition of common humanity,
and a tolerance for individual differences.

Health Care Reform Gives Boost
To Addiction Treatment

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama on March 25, includes addiction and mental health services in the basic benefits package.  All basic benefit packages in the individual market and small group markets are required to cover mental health and substance use disorder services.

In 2014, 32 million Americans who are at 133% of poverty level and are uninsured will have health insurance coverage for addiction disorders. The new law builds on the principle of equity for addiction with all other health conditions.  In the Wellstone and Domenici Parity and Equity Act of 2008, addiction and mental health benefits must be provided in the same way as all other covered medical and surgical treatments. The law will do away with assigning arbitrary limits on substance abuse services like limiting residential treatment to 28 days.

Major
After eight years of hard study, Major Sampson earned his GED in October from Rowan Cabarrus Community College. It is a significant achievement for the young man who has been diagnosed with depression, schizophrenia, psychosis & substance abuse.
